But of course the influences depend on the market niche. For instance those entrepreneurs, who market mortgage loans, the market situation is very bad. But for the internet business marketers, like me, the recession is a long far away topic.

1. During A Recession People Think Short Term.

A recession means financial trouble and during the troubles people become short term. It is very psychological thing, people start to be cautious and to save money rather than to spend it. Because of the negative publicity people are afraid about unemployment. But concerning the product, which they must buy, they have no alternatives.

This short term behaviour leads internet business marketers to offer them one shot, short term deals and to avoid the long subscriptions, because people do not want to tie their hands.

2. People Are Price Sensitive.

The recession means worse income possibilities and this feeling makes people to save money and to postpone bigger investments. They become price sensitive and move their product purchases from more expensive into cheaper ones. It is wise to stress price and especially price quality ratio during the recession time.

3. How Does The Search Volume Develop?

Is there a recession in your internet business niche? Well, a good way to find out this is to research the search volumes of the main keywords in your market. That will tell you, how the demand is developing. The stats tell us, that the recession touches only a part of the market and most markets, which offer low price products, will keep the sales volumes.

4. The Strong Brands Stand The Recessions.

During uncertain times people start to look safety also in their product choices. They want to minimize the risks. This raises the value of strong brands, because people feel that they are more reliable ones.

The strength of the brand is always relative to the other brands in that niche. So the recession tests, how well you have done the marketing, i.e. is the customer trust in a good level. If it is, your offer has no problems during the tough times.

5. Do Not Change The Strategy.

Yes, do not change the strategy during the recession times. I know that the temptation is big especially if your sales does not go as planned, but however, do not change your strategy. You brand, your name, stands for a certain kind of an internet business, and if you will change it, you will lose more than win.
