Wicked Tickets - The New Tour Has Just Gotten Started!

By: Brent Warnken

Wicked, the Musical is going strong this year, as it has been for the past five years. The musical is still the most popular thing on Broadway, and it is rapidly becoming the most talked about show, one that everyone wants to see today. The musical first hit the stage in 2003, premiering in San Francisco, before moving on to Broadway. Today Wicked tickets are currently available for two national tours in the US, the second of which began on March 6 of this year, and can also be seen New York and San Francisco. Internationally the musical has gained renown in London, Tokyo, Stuttgart and Melbourne.

This is possibly the most popular musical to take the stage since 2000, and it seems to only be growing in popularity as the years go by. But the story first drew public attention in 1995, when Gregory Maguire published his book Wicked, the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The story is a feminist account, addressing political and social concerns in Oz. In doing this it indirectly reflects on the current social and political landscape of our world. Through the character of Elphaba, who we know from the beginning of the musical will grow up to be the Wicked Witch of the West, the story explores political activism and social concerns.

Wicked was adapted into a musical by Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz, whose stage production of the musical has become so well-loved that many people have gone to see it several times since it first hit the stage. The musical has been taken up by Marc Platt, according to some sources, and is slated for release in 2010, but some fans worry that the movie will not reach the same level as the live show. However, with Winnie Holzman writing the screenplay, it may have more hope for it than fans think. Either way, Wicked, the Musical, is a must-see Broadway event, so be sure to check out the cities that it will be coming to this year, and be sure to get your tickets right away!

In Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz musical, the story of Wicked centers, of course, around the strange green girl named Elphaba, whose fiery spirit and search for justice are admirable. Her life, however, is not the grand life that we could hope for her, and she may not have the happy ending that audiences always long after for the character that they come to love the most...but perhaps there is unexpected hope in the end.

The success of Wicked can partly be contributed to the incredible heroine of this fantastic story, but it may also be attributed to the widely appealing nature of the story itself. Whatever the reason, the tickets for this show are some of the biggest sellers online, the leading site for fan-to-fan ticket sales. If you are ready for a great evening out or a weekend away, then take the opportunity to see Wicked if you can. You will not want to miss this incredible show, so act fast before all the tickets are taken!
